Text Box: PIKA International, Inc. is executing another removal action at the Tilcon quarry for the US Army. This most recent removal action focuses on soil that had been stockpiled in windrows at the quarry. Workers are sifting through those windrows of soil until they reach the native soil

POINTS OF INTEREST:

· The last PAERAB meeting was held on Thursday, October 26, 2009 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rockaway, NJ. Minutes of the meeting were distributed to the membership for comment.

· The next PAERAB meeting will be held on Thursday, April 15th at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rockaway, NJ from 6:30 to 8:30PM. It will be preceded at 6PM by a Public Hearing of the Proposed Plan for PICA 13/Site 78 at the same location. Members of the public are invited to attend and the location is wheelchair accessible.

· The last technical team meeting was held on December 8, 2009 with representatives of Picatinny, USEPA, the NJDEP, US Army Corps of Engineers, and USAEC.

Text Box: beneath. It is likely that more MEC detections will occur when native soil is reached. MEC and munitions debris are present at the quarry due to the 1926 explosion at Picatinny Arsenal that distributed exploded and unexploded ordnance throughout the immediate area of the Arsenal.
