ROD

Remedial Design

Area B

The frequency of sampling and the analytical suite of parameters will be defined in the Remedial Design (RD), with the following schedule established herein as the minimum basis for the RD:  quarterly for the first two years following attainment of the 20 ug/l threshold concentration (years 3 and 4), semi-annually for year five and completion of the first five year review, then every five years for the remainder of the initial

30-year planning horizon identified in the RD until achievement of Remedial Action Objectives, which is currently estimated 30 years.

The CVOC parameters will be monitored annually until 2011, at which time the frequency of sampling will be discussed with the regulators and possibly revised.

Area E

Groundwater samples will be collected in accordance with the site-wide Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) program at the following frequency:

· Quarterly for the first two years;

· Semi-annually for the next five years; and,

Annually for the remainder of remediation.

Final details of the MNA program, including number of wells, sampling and reporting frequencies, and the exit strategy will be included in the remedial design submitted to USEPA and NJDEP for approval after the Record of Decision (ROD) is signed.

The ten primary natural attenuation wells will be sampled according to the following schedule:

· Quarterly for the first two years;

·  Semi-annually for the next three years; and,

· Annually for the remainder of remedy, with adjustment [greater or lesser] in frequency to be considered during each 5-year review.

Area D

The groundwater samples will be collected initially from 12 wells during the first eight (8) quarters, then from 10 wells twice per year for the next 30 years and from 8 wells on an annual basis for 88 years, and 5 wells for the remaining 50 years.

Years 1 – 2: Quarterly

Years 3 – 5: Annually

Years 6 – duration:  Every 5 years
